COPY EDIT

An edit concerned with the spelling, grammar, consistency, and overall readability of your manuscript. This is one of the most important parts of the editorial process.

This edit should be done after the developmental edit is complete and you have received feedback from beta readers. You want your manuscript to be in its final form before submitting it for a copy edit.

I can provide a copy edit to the Australian Style Guide, the Chicago Manual of Style (which is the industry standard in the United States,) the UK Style Guide, and the New Zealand Style Guide. If you are not a native English speaker with your own dialect preference, I would recommend you select the Chicago Manual of Style as most English speakers are familiar with American English. Alternatively, you may wish to use the UK Style Guide as some consider this dialect to be the 'most correct.'

Includes:

  • A marked-up copy of your manuscript with any final corrections to consistency, grammar, and spelling edited using the track changes feature in Microsoft Word. This allows you to see and approve every change made to the document.

  • Notes on any issues with consistency throughout the manuscript. For example, if a character's eyes are described as brown and green at different points in the story.

Price: $6.00 USD per 1,000 words or $0.006 USD per word.

  • A 80,000 word novel would cost $480.00 USD, whereas a 25,000 novella would cost $150.00 USD.

  • Minimum manuscript length is 10,000. Manuscripts shorter than this will be charged at the minimum rate of $60.00 USD.

LINE EDIT

A line edit is a more in-depth version of a copy edit, which focuses on style as well as spelling, grammar, consistency, and overall readability. While a copy edit focuses on the accuracy of writing, a line edit also takes into consideration the efficiency and beauty of a sentence. A line edit takes into account a writer's unique voice, so one writer may be advised to cut their sentences down into their most concise form where another is not.

This edit is intended to be a more intensive version of my copy edit and will provide all the same checks as my copy edit. That is to say, you do not need to pay for both. Simply choose which is more suited to your wants, needs, and budget.

This edit should be done after the developmental edit is complete and you have received feedback from beta readers. You want your manuscript to be in its final form before submitting it for a line edit.

Includes:

  • A marked-up copy of your manuscript with any final corrections to consistency, style, grammar, and spelling edited using the track changes feature in Microsoft Word. This allows you to see and approve every change made to the document.

  • Notes on any issues with consistency throughout the manuscript. For example, if a character's eyes are described as brown and green at different points in the story.

Price: $10.00 USD per 1,000 words or $0.01 USD per word.

  • A 80,000 word novel would cost $800.00 USD, whereas a 25,000 novella would cost $250.00 USD.

  • Minimum manuscript length is 10,000. Manuscripts shorter than this will be charged at the minimum rate of $100.00 USD.
